My fellow wives spoke to me, asking me to speak to the Messenger of Allah so that he might instruct the people to send their gifts to him wherever he happened to be, since they were timing their gifts for the day he spent with Ayesha. They said, "We love good things just as Ayesha loves them."So I said, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ, my fellow wives have asked me to speak to you, that you might instruct the people to send their gifts to you wherever you are, for the people are timing their gifts for the day of Ayesha, and we love good things just as Ayesha does."She said, the Prophet ﷺ remained silent and gave me no reply. My fellow wives came to me and I told them that he had not answered me. They said, "Do not give up on him. How can this be the time to give up?"She said, then his turn came round to me again, and I spoke to him. I said, "My fellow wives have instructed me to speak to you, that you might instruct the people to send their gifts to you wherever you are." She repeated this same speech to him two or three times, and each time the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent toward her. Then he said, "Umm Salama, do not harm me regarding Ayesha. By Allah, revelation has never come down upon me while I was beneath the blanket of any of my wives except Ayesha."She said, "I seek refuge in Allah from causing you any distress regarding Ayesha."
