A woman's husband died, and she developed an eye complaint. The people mentioned her case to the Prophet ﷺ and brought up the matter of kohl, saying, "We fear for her eye."He said, "One of you used to remain in her house in her worst garments, or in her ordinary garments, in the seclusion of her home for a full year, and when a dog passed by, she would throw a piece of dung. Can she not endure four months and ten days?"
