Umm Habibah came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, what would you say to my sister?"He asked, "What should I do with her?"She replied, "Marry her."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "Would you really like that?"She said, "Yes. I am not your only wife, and the one I would most want to share in this good with me is my sister."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "She is not lawful for me."She said, "By Allah, it has reached me that you are seeking the hand of Durrah, daughter of Umm Salama by Abu Salama."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Even if she were not my stepdaughter, she would still not be lawful for me to marry. Thuwaybah, the freedwoman of Banu Hashim, nursed both me and her father. So do not present your sisters or your daughters to me for marriage."
حدثنا أبو معاوية حدثنا هشام بن عروة عن أبيه عن زينب بنت أبي سلمة
جاءت أم حبيبة النبي ﷺ فقالت يا رسول الله هل لك في أختي قال فأصنع بها ماذا قالت تزوجها فقال لها رسول الله ﷺ وتحبين ذلك فقالت نعم لست لك بمخلية وأحق من شركني في خير أختي فقال رسول الله ﷺ إنها لا تحل لي قالت فوالله لقد بلغني أنك تخطب درة ابنة أم سلمة بنت أبي سلمة فقال رسول الله ﷺ لو كانت تحل لي لما تزوجتها قد أرضعتني وأباها ثويبة مولاة بني هاشم فلا تعرضن علي أخواتكن ولا بناتكن
