The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The one with the lightest punishment among the people of the Fire is Abu Talib. He wears two sandals of fire that cause his brain to boil."
حدثنا عفان حدثنا حماد قال أخبرنا ثابت عن أبي عثمان النهدي
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال أهون أهل النار عذابا أبو طالب وهو منتعل نعلين من نار يغلي منهما دماغه
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Thabit is Ibn Aslam Banani, a trustworthy and reliable successor who accompanied Anas bin Malik for forty years. Anas said, "Thabit is truly one of the keys to goodness." He also heard from Ibn Umar and Ibn Zubayr. Bukhari gave his biography in al-Kabir, 1/2/159-160. Banani, with a damma on the ba and a light nun, is an attribution to the tribe of Banu Banana.Muslim narrated this hadith, 1:77, from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, from Affan. See also 1789.
