Sahla bint Suhayl bin Amr, who was the wife of Abu Huzaifa bin Utba, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Salim, the freed slave of Abu Huzaifa, enters upon us, and I am uncovered at home. We used to consider him a son. Abu Huzaifa had adopted him just as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ adopted Zayd. Then Allah revealed, "Call them by the names of their fathers, that is more just in the sight of Allah" [Ahzab 33:5]."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ thereupon instructed her to nurse Salim, so she nursed him five times, and he became like her son through nursing.For this reason, Ayesha would direct her sisters and her nieces to nurse, with five nursings, any man whom she wished to see and enter upon her, even if he were grown, after which he could come in to her.But Umm Salama and the rest of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ refused to allow anyone to enter upon them through such nursing unless he had been nursed in the cradle. They said to Ayesha, "By Allah, we do not know, perhaps it was a special concession from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for Salim alone, not for the rest of the people."
حدثنا يعقوب قال حدثنا ابن أخي ابن شهاب عن عمه قال أخبرني عروة بن الزبير
أتت سهلة بنت سهيل بن عمرو وكانت تحت أبي حذيفة بن عتبة رسول الله ﷺ فقالت إن سالما مولى أبي حذيفة يدخل علينا وإنا فضل وإنا كنا نراه ولدا وكان أبو حذيفة تبناه كما تبنى رسول الله ﷺ زيدا فأنزل الله {ادعوهم لآبائهم هو أقسط عند الله} فأمرها رسول الله ﷺ عند ذلك أن ترضع سالما فأرضعته خمس رضعات وكان بمنزلة ولدها من الرضاعة فبذلك كانت عائشة تأمر أخواتها وبنات أخواتها أن يرضعن من أحبت عائشة أن يراها ويدخل عليها وإن كان كبيرا خمس رضعات ثم يدخل عليها وأبت أم سلمة وسائر أزواج النبي ﷺ أن يدخلن عليهن بتلك الرضاعة أحدا من الناس حتى يرضع في المهد وقلن لعائشة والله ما ندري لعلها كانت رخصة من رسول الله ﷺ لسالم من دون الناس
