Ayesha reported,

Sahla bint Suhayl came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said to him, "Messenger of Allah, Salim was to us as you know. We used to consider him as a son, and he would come in to me however he wished, and we felt no shame before him. But when Allah revealed concerning him and others like him what He revealed, I noticed displeasure on Abu Huzaifa's face whenever he saw Salim coming in to me."He said, "Nurse him ten times, then he may come in to you however he wishes, for he will be your son."Ayesha used to consider this a general ruling for all Muslims, while the other wives of the Prophet ﷺ held that it was a concession granted specifically to Salim, the freed slave of Abu Huzaifa, whose situation Sahla had described.

عن عائشة قالت

أتت سهلة بنت سهيل رسول الله ﷺ فقالت له يا رسول الله إن سالما كان منا حيث قد علمت أنا كنا نعده ولدا فكان يدخل علي كيف شاء لا نحتشم منه فلما أنزل الله فيه وفي أشباهه ما أنزل أنكرت وجه أبي حذيفة إذا رآه يدخل علي قال فأرضعيه عشر رضعات ثم ليدخل عليك كيف شاء فإنما هو ابنك فكانت عائشة تراه عاما للمسلمين وكان من سواها من أزواج النبي ﷺ يرى أنها كانت خاصة لسالم مولى أبي حذيفة الذي ذكرت سهلة من شأنه رخصة له
