Khawla bint Hakeem bin Umaya bin Haritha bin al-Awqas al-Sulamiya, who was the wife of Uthman bin Mazun, came to visit me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ noticed her unkempt appearance and said to me, "Ayesha, why does Khawla look so disheveled?"I replied, "Messenger of Allah, she is a woman with no husband in effect. He fasts all day and stands in prayer all night, so she is like a woman without a husband. She has neglected herself and let herself go."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then sent for Uthman bin Mazun. When he came, the Prophet said, "Uthman, are you turning away from my way?"He answered, "No, by Allah, Messenger of Allah. Rather, it is your way that I seek."The Prophet said, "I sleep and I pray, I fast and I break my fast, and I marry women. So fear Allah, Uthman, for your family has a right over you, your guest has a right over you, and your own self has a right over you. Fast, but also break your fast. Pray, but also sleep."
حدثنا يعقوب قال حدثنا أبي عن ابن إسحاق قال حدثني هشام بن عروة عن أبيه
دخلت علي خويلة بنت حكيم بن أمية بن حارثة بن الأوقص السلمية وكانت عند عثمان بن مظعون قالت فرأى رسول الله ﷺ بذاذة هيئتها فقال لي يا عائشة ما أبذ هيئة خويلة قالت فقلت يا رسول الله امرأة لا زوج لها يصوم النهار ويقوم الليل فهي كمن لا زوج لها فتركت نفسها وأضاعتها قالت فبعث رسول الله ﷺ إلى عثمان بن مظعون فجاءه فقال يا عثمان أرغبة عن سنتي قال فقال لا والله يا رسول الله ولكن سنتك أطلب قال فإني أنام وأصلي وأصوم وأفطر وأنكح النساء فاتق الله يا عثمان فإن لأهلك عليك حقا وإن لضيفك عليك حقا وإن لنفسك عليك حقا فصم وأفطر وصل ونم
