A woman extended her hand from behind the curtain, holding out a letter to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ withdrew his hand and said, "I do not know whether this is the hand of a man or the hand of a woman."She replied, "It is a woman's hand."He said, "If you were truly a woman, you would have dyed your nails with henna."

مدت امرأة من وراء الستر بيدها كتابا إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقبض النبي ﷺ يده وقال ما أدري أيد رجل أو يد امرأة فقالت بل امرأة فقال لو كنت امرأة غيرت أظفارك بالحناء
Its isnad is daif, due to the obscurity of Safiyyah bint Isma, for they said her status is unknown. Also, Mutee bin Maymun Anbari has some weakness in him. The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud, 4/77, no. 4166, in the chapter on combing the hair, and Nasai, 8/142, no. 5089, in the chapter on adornment, and Bayhaqi, 7/86, in the chapter on marriage. It has corroborating narrations that raise it to the level of hasan without dispute. So the sources of the takhrij should be consulted.
