I used to seek protection for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a supplication that Jibreel used to recite over him whenever he fell ill, seeking protection and praying for him. She said, So I went to recite it over him, "Take away the suffering, Lord of mankind. In Your hand is the cure. There is no healer but You. Grant a cure that leaves no illness behind."She said, So I went to recite it for him during the illness in which he died, but he said, "Take it away from me." He said, "It only benefited me during my lifetime."
حدثنا يونس حدثنا حماد يعني ابن زيد عن عمرو يعني ابن مالك عن أبي الجوزاء أن
كنت أعوذ رسول الله ﷺ بدعاء إذا مرض كان جبريل يعيذه به ويدعو له به إذا مرض قالت فذهبت أعوذه به أذهب الباس رب الناس بيدك الشفاء لا شافي إلا أنت اشف شفاء لا يغادر سقما قالت فذهبت أدعو له به في مرضه الذي توفي فيه فقال ارفعي عني قال فإنما كان ينفعني في المدة
