Ayesha reported,

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived in Medina, the city was struck by an epidemic. It is mentioned that fever overwhelmed them, and Abu Bakr fell ill. Whenever the fever seized him, he would recite, "Every man is greeted in the morning by his family, yet death is closer to him than the strap of his sandal."She said, And whenever the fever seized Bilal, he would recite, "Oh, would that I knew whether I shall spend a night once more in a valley with idhkhir grass and jalil plants around me. Shall I ever again come down to the waters of Majannah? Shall Shamah and Tafil ever appear before me again? O Allah, curse Utbah bin Rabia, Shaybah bin Rabia, and Umaya bin Khalaf, just as they drove us out of Mecca."When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw what they were suffering, he said, "O Allah, make Medina as beloved to us as Mecca, or even more so. O Allah, restore its health and bless us in its sa and its mudd, and transfer its fever to al-Juhfah."The narrator said, A child would be born in al-Juhfah, and before reaching the age of puberty, the fever would strike him down.

عن عائشة قالت

قدم رسول الله ﷺ المدينة وهي وبيئة ذكر أن الحمى صرعتهم فمرض أبو بكر وكان إذا أخذته الحمى يقول كل امرئ مصبح في أهله والموت أدنى من شراك نعله قالت وكان بلال إذا أخذته الحمى يقول ألا ليت شعري هل أبيتن ليلة بواد وحولي إذخر وجليل وهل أردن يوما مياه مجنة وهل يبدون لي شامة وطفيل اللهم العن عتبة بن ربيعة وشيبة بن ربيعة وأمية بن خلف كما أخرجونا من مكة فلما رأى رسول الله ﷺ ما لقوا قال اللهم حبب إلينا المدينة كحبنا مكة أو أشد اللهم صححها وبارك لنا في صاعها ومدها وانقل حماها إلى الجحفة قال فكان المولود يولد بالجحفة فما يبلغ الحلم حتى تصرعه الحمى
