The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would sometimes spend the night in a state of major ritual impurity. Bilal would come to him to call him for the prayer, and he would rise and bathe. I would watch the water trickle through his hair and over his skin. Then he would go out, and I would hear his voice in the dawn prayer, after which he would continue his day fasting.

كان رسول الله ﷺ يبيت جنبا فيأتيه بلال فيؤذنه بالصلاة فيقوم فيغتسل فأنظر إلى تحادر الماء في شعره وجلده ثم يخرج فأسمع صوته في صلاة الفجر ثم يظل صائما
