Fatimah bint Abdul-Rahman reported,

I asked Ayesha, my uncle having sent me, and he said, "One of your sons sends you greetings of peace and asks you about Uthman bin Affan, for people have been reviling him."She replied, "May Allah curse whoever curses him. By Allah, he was sitting beside the Prophet of Allah ﷺ, with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ leaning his back against me, while Jibreel was revealing the Quran to him, and he was saying to him, 'Write, Uthaym.' Allah would not have placed him in such a position unless he were honored by Allah and His Messenger."

حدثنا عبد الصمد قال حدثتني

فاطمة بنت عبد الرحمن قالت حدثتني أمي أنها قالت

سألت عائشة وأرسلها عمها فقال إن أحد بنيك يقرئك السلام ويسألك عن عثمان بن عفان فإن الناس قد شتموه فقالت لعن الله من لعنه فوالله لقد كان قاعدا عند نبي الله ﷺ وإن رسول الله ﷺ لمسند ظهره إلي وإن جبريل ليوحي إليه القرآن وإنه ليقول له اكتب يا عثيم فما كان الله لينزله تلك المنزلة إلا كريما على الله ورسوله
