Two men brought a dispute before the Prophet ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked the claimant for evidence, but he had none, so the defendant was asked to take an oath. He swore by Allah, beside whom there is no deity. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "You have indeed taken the oath, but Allah has forgiven you because of your sincere declaration that there is no deity but Allah."
حدثنا حسن بن موسى حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن عطاء بن السائب عن أبي يحيى
أن رجلين اختصما إلى النبي ﷺ فسأل رسول الله ﷺ المدعي البينة فلم يكن له بينة فاستحلف المطلوب فحلف بالله الذي لا إله إلا هو فقال رسول الله ﷺ إنك قد حلفت ولكن قد غفر الله لك بإخلاصك قولك لا إله إلا الله
