Ayesha reported,

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was commanded to give his wives the choice, he began with me and said, "Ayesha, I am going to mention something to you, and there is no harm in your not hurrying to decide until you consult your parents."She said, "He knew that my parents would never have ordered me to leave him."Then he said, "Allah says, 'Prophet, say to your wives, If you desire the life of this world and its adornment, then come, I will provide for you and release you with kindness. But if you desire Allah and His Messenger and the home of the Hereafter, then indeed Allah has prepared for the doers of good among you a great reward' [Ahzab 33:28–29]."I replied, "About this matter should I consult my parents? I have chosen Allah, His Messenger, and the home of the Hereafter."She said, "Then the rest of the Prophet's ﷺ wives did the same as I had done."

حدثنا عثمان قال أخبرنا يونس عن الزهري عن أبي سلمة أن

عائشة قالت

لما أمر رسول الله ﷺ بتخيير أزواجه بدأ بي فقال يا عائشة إني أذكر لك أمرا ولا عليك أن لا تستعجلي حتى تذاكري أبويك قالت وقد علم أن أبوي لم يكونا ليأمراني بفراقه ثم قال إن الله عز وجل يقول {يا أيها النبي قل لأزواجك إن كنتن تردن الحياة الدنيا وزينتها} حتى بلغ {أعد للمحسنات منكن أجرا عظيما} فقلت في أي هذا أستأمر أبوي فإني قد اخترت الله ورسوله والدار الآخرة قالت ثم فعل أزواج النبي ﷺ ما فعلت
