The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray eleven units during the night, and that was his prayer. He would remain in prostration long enough for one of you to recite fifty verses before raising his head. He would then pray two units before the dawn prayer, after which he would lie down on his right side until the caller to prayer came to him.
حدثنا عثمان بن عمر قال أخبرنا يونس عن الزهري عن عروة
كان رسول الله ﷺ يصلي من الليل إحدى عشرة ركعة فكانت تلك صلاته يسجد في السجدة من ذلك قدر ما يقرأ أحدكم خمسين آية قبل أن يرفع رأسه ويركع ركعتين قبل الفجر ثم يضطجع على شقه الأيمن حتى يأتيه المؤذن
