The Prophet ﷺ said to her, "Do you not see that when your people rebuilt the Kaabah, they fell short of the foundations laid by Ibrahim?"She said, "Messenger of Allah, will you not restore it to the foundations of Ibrahim?"He replied, "Were it not for your people's recent break from disbelief, I would."Ibn Umar said, "If Ayesha truly heard this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then I can only think the Messenger of Allah ﷺ refrained from touching the two corners adjacent to the Hijr because the House had not been completed on the foundations of Ibrahim."
حدثنا عثمان بن عمر قال حدثنا مالك بن أنس عن الزهري عن سالم عن عبد الله بن محمد بن أبي بكر أخبر عبد الله بن عمر
أن النبي ﷺ قال لها ألم تري أن قومك حين بنوا الكعبة استقصروا على قواعد إبراهيم فقلت يا رسول الله أفلا تردها على قواعد إبراهيم فقال لولا حدثان قومك بالكفر فقال ابن عمر إن كانت عائشة سمعت هذا الحديث من رسول الله ﷺ فلا أرى رسول الله ﷺ ترك استلام الركنين اللذين يليان الحجر إلا أن البيت لم يتم على قواعد إبراهيم
