Zaynab bint Jahsh experienced prolonged menstrual bleeding during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ instructed her to perform a full bath before each prayer. She would step into a tub filled with water and immerse herself in it, then come out, with the blood overpowering the water, and she would go and pray.

أن زينب بنت جحش استحيضت على عهد رسول الله ﷺ فأمرها رسول الله ﷺ بالغسل لكل صلاة فإن كانت لتدخل المركن مملوءا ماء فتغتمس فيه ثم تخرج منه وإن الدم لغالبه فتخرج فتصلي
