Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the ritual bath after major impurity, he would begin by performing wudu as he did for prayer, then wash his private parts and his feet, then wipe his hand against the wall, then pour water over himself. It is as though I can still see the mark of his hand on the wall.
حدثنا يزيد أخبرنا عروة أبو عبد الله البزاز عن الشعبي
كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا اغتسل من الجنابة بدأ فتوضأ وضوءه للصلاة وغسل فرجه وقدميه ومسح يده بالحائط ثم أفاض عليه الماء فكأني أرى أثر يده في الحائط
