The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us and forbade us from a practice that had been beneficial to us, but what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded is better for us than what he forbade. He said, "Whoever has land should cultivate it, or leave it, or grant it to someone."I mentioned this to Tawsa, who considered Ibn Abbas to be among the most knowledgeable of them. He said that Ibn Abbas had said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ only said, 'Whoever has land, that he grant it to his brother is better for him.'"Shuba said that Abdul-Malik used to gather these men together, Tawsa, Ata, and Mujahid, and the one he reported from was Mujahid. Shuba said, "It is as though he was the master of the hadith."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة عن عبد الملك بن ميسرة عن طاوس وعطاء ومجاهد
خرج إلينا رسول الله ﷺ فنهانا عن أمر كان لنا نافعا وأمر رسول الله ﷺ خير لنا مما نهانا عنه قال من كانت له أرض فليزرعها أو ليذرها أو ليمنحها قال فذكرت ذلك لطاوس وكان يرى أن ابن عباس من أعلمهم قال قال ابن عباس إنما قال رسول الله ﷺ من كانت له أرض أن يمنحها أخاه خير له قال شعبة وكان عبد الملك يجمع هؤلاء طاوسا وعطاء ومجاهدا وكان الذي يحدث عنه مجاهد قال شعبة كأنه صاحب الحديث
