Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered a sacrifice, he would buy two large, fat, horned, white rams that had been castrated. He would slaughter one on behalf of those of his ummah who affirmed the oneness of Allah and bore witness that he had delivered the message, and he would slaughter the other on behalf of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.
حدثنا إسحاق بن يوسف قال أنا سفيان عن عبد الله بن محمد بن عقيل عن أبي سلمة عن أبي هريرة أن
كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا ضحى اشترى كبشين عظيمين سمينين أقرنين أملحين موجوأين قال فيذبح أحدهما عن أمته ممن أقر بالتوحيد وشهد له بالبلاغ ويذبح الآخر عن محمد وآل محمد
