Umaya reported,

She asked Ayesha about this verse, "If you disclose what is within yourselves or conceal it, Allah will bring you to account for it" [Baqarah 2:284], and about this verse, "Whoever does a wrong will be recompensed for it" [Nisa 4:123].Ayesha replied, "No one has asked me about these two verses since I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about them. He said, 'Ayesha, this is Allah holding the servant to account through what afflicts him, such as fever, misfortune, and even a thorn that pricks him, or an item he places in his sleeve and then loses, panicking over it, only to find it tucked in his side. By such things the believer comes out cleansed of his sins as pure red gold comes out of the bellows.'"

أنها سألت عائشة عن هذه الآية {إن تبدوا ما في أنفسكم أو تخفوه يحاسبكم به الله} وعن هذه الآية {من يعمل سوءا يجز به} فقالت ما سألني عنهما أحد منذ سألت رسول الله ﷺ عنهما فقال يا عائشة هذه متابعة الله عز وجل العبد بما يصيبه من الحمة والنكبة والشوكة حتى البضاعة يضعها في كمه فيفقدها فيفزع لها فيجدها في ضبنه حتى إن المؤمن ليخرج من ذنوبه كما يخرج التبر الأحمر من الكير
