The Prophet ﷺ said during the illness in which he died, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer."I said, "If Abu Bakr stands in your place, the people will not be able to hear him because of his weeping."He said, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the prayer."So I said to Hafsah, "Tell him that Abu Bakr cannot make the people hear him because of his weeping, so perhaps you should instruct Umar instead."He said, "You are like the women who surrounded Yusuf. Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer."Hafsah turned to me and said, "I never get any good from you."
حدثنا يحيى عن هشام قال أخبرني أبي
قال النبي ﷺ في مرضه الذي مات فيه مروا أبا بكر يصلي بالناس قلت إن أبا بكر إذا قام مقامك لم يسمع الناس من البكاء قال مروا أبا بكر فقلت لحفصة قولي إن أبا بكر لا يسمع الناس من البكاء فلو أمرت عمر فقال صواحب يوسف مروا أبا بكر يصلي بالناس فالتفتت إلي حفصة فقالت لم أكن لأصيب منك خيرا
