I have known my parents only as people who practiced the religion, and not a day passed without the Messenger of Allah ﷺ coming to visit us at both ends of the day, morning and evening. When the Muslims were persecuted, Abu Bakr set out as an emigrant heading toward the land of Abyssinia. When he reached Bark al-Ghimad, he was met by Ibn al-Daghinah, the chief of the Qarah tribe.Ibn al-Daghinah asked, "Where are you headed, Abu Bakr?"Abu Bakr replied, "My people have driven me out."She then mentioned the rest of the hadith. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to the Muslims, "I have been shown the place of your emigration. I was shown a salty land with palm trees between two lava fields."So those who intended to emigrate set out for Medina when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned this, and some of the Muslims who had emigrated to Abyssinia returned to Medina. Abu Bakr prepared himself to emigrate, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Wait, for I hope that I too will be granted permission."Abu Bakr asked, "May my father and mother be ransomed for you, do you really hope for that?"He replied, "Yes."So Abu Bakr held himself back to accompany the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he fed two riding camels he owned with the leaves of the samur tree for four months.Zuhri said that Urwa said that Ayesha said, "One day, while we were sitting in our house at midday, someone said to Abu Bakr, 'Here is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ coming, his head covered, at an hour when he does not normally visit us.'"Abu Bakr said, "May my father and mother be ransomed for him. By Allah, he has only come at this hour for some important matter."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived and asked permission to enter, and was granted it. When he entered, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Abu Bakr, "Have those with you leave."Abu Bakr replied, "These are only your family, may my father and mother be ransomed for you, Messenger of Allah."The Prophet ﷺ said, "I have been granted permission to depart."Abu Bakr asked, "Will I have your companionship, may my father be ransomed for you, Messenger of Allah?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Yes."Abu Bakr said, "Then take, may my father be ransomed for you, Messenger of Allah, one of these two riding camels of mine."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Only at its price."Ayesha said, "So we prepared their provisions in the best manner and put together travel food for them in a leather bag. Asma bint Abu Bakr cut a piece from her waist-belt and tied the bag with it, and that is why she came to be called Dhat al-Nitaqayn, the one with two belts."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abu Bakr made their way to a cave in a mountain called Thawr, where they remained for three nights.
