Ayesha reported,

The people of the slander said what they said, and Allah declared her innocent. Each of them related to me a portion of her story, and some retained her account more thoroughly than others, with greater accuracy of detail. I have preserved from each of them the account he narrated to me about Ayesha, and parts of their accounts confirm one another, though some were more retentive of it than others. They said that Ayesha said, "Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to travel, he would draw lots among his wives, and whichever of them's lot came out, he would take her with him."She then mentioned the rest of the hadith, except that he said, "He announced the night of departure, so I rose when they made the call to set out." He also said, "from the beads of Zafar," and he said, "they are weighed down," and he said, "I made my way to my lodging."Urwa said, "I was told that the slander was being spread and discussed in his presence, and he would acknowledge it, listen to it, and pass it along."Urwa also said, "None of the people of the slander were named except Hassan bin Thabit, Mistah bin Uthatha, and Hamna bint Jahsh, along with others I have no knowledge of, except that they were a group, as Allah عز وجل said. The greatest part of it, however, was being voiced in the gathering of Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul."Urwa said, "Ayesha used to dislike that Hassan be cursed in her presence, and she would say, 'He is the one who said,For my father, his father, and my honor Are a shield for the honor of Muhammad against you.'"She said, "Our practice was the practice of the early Arabs in seeking purity."He said, "Her co-wives spoke to her," and he said, "By the One who knows of the innocence of his family," and he said, "Then the household goat comes and eats it," and he said, "Even if he is from our brothers the Khazraj," and he said, "Then a man from the Khazraj stood up." Hassan's mother was the daughter of his paternal uncle from his clan, and he was Saad bin Ubada, the chief of the Khazraj. She said, "Before that he had been a righteous man, but tribal zeal carried him away." And he said, "My tears dried up," and he said, "Her sister Hamna began to defend her vigorously."Urwa said, "Ayesha said, 'By Allah, the man about whom what was said was said only commented, "Glory be to Allah! By the One in whose hand my soul rests, I have never uncovered the garment of any woman."'" She said, "He was later killed as a martyr in the cause of Allah."
