The Prophet ﷺ said, "The right of wala belongs to the one who paid the silver, granted freedom, and bestowed the favor." Her husband was a free man, and she was given the choice.

عن النبي ﷺ قال الولاء لمن أعطى الورق وأعتق وولي النعمة وكان زوجها حرا فخيرت
