Ati said, I said to Ikrima, "I recite Qul Audhu bi Rabb al-Falaq and Qul Audhu bi Rabb an-Nas in the Maghrib prayer, and some people criticize me for that."He replied, "There is no harm in that. Recite them both, for they are part of the Quran." Then he said, "Ibn Abbas told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and prayed two rakahs in which he recited only the Opening of the Book."

قلت لعكرمة إني أقرأ في صلاة المغرب قل أعوذ برب الفلق وقل أعوذ برب الناس وإن ناسا يعيبون ذلك علي فقال وما بأس بذلك اقرأهما فإنهما من القرآن ثم قال حدثني ابن عباس أن رسول الله ﷺ جاء فصلى ركعتين لم يقرأ فيهما إلا بأم الكتاب
