Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

The husband of Barirah was a black slave named Mughith. I used to see him following her through the streets of Medina, weeping with tears running down his cheeks over her.The Prophet ﷺ gave four rulings concerning her case. Her former masters had stipulated that the right of guardianship should remain with them, but the Prophet ﷺ ruled that guardianship belongs to the one who frees the slave. He gave her the choice regarding her marriage, and she chose herself, so he instructed her to observe the waiting period.She was given some charity, and she sent some of it as a gift to Ayesha . When this was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "It is charity for her, but a gift to us."

عن ابن عباس

أن زوج بريرة كان عبدا أسود يسمى مغيثا قال فكنت أراه يتبعها في سكك المدينة يعصر عينيه عليها قال وقضى فيها النبي ﷺ أربع قضيات إن مواليها اشترطوا الولاء فقضى النبي ﷺ الولاء لمن أعتق وخيرها فاختارت نفسها فأمرها أن تعتد قال وتصدق عليها بصدقة فأهدت منها إلى عائشة رضي الله عنها فذكرت ذلك للنبي ﷺ فقال هو عليها صدقة وإلينا هدية
