The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray eleven units during the night. When dawn broke, he would pray two brief units, then lie down on his right side until the muezzin came to call him for the prayer.
حدثنا عبد الرزاق حدثنا معمر عن الزهري عن عروة
كان رسول الله ﷺ يصلي من الليل إحدى عشرة ركعة فإذا فجر الفجر صلى ركعتين خفيفتين ثم اتكأ على شقه الأيمن حتى يأتيه المؤذن يؤذنه للصلاة
