The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was never given a choice between two matters without choosing the easier of the two, as long as it was not a sin. If it involved sin, he would be the furthest of people from it.
حدثنا حماد أخبرنا هشام عن أبيه
ما خير رسول الله ﷺ بين أمرين أحدهما أيسر من الآخر إلا اختار أيسرهما ما لم يكن إثما فإذا كان إثما كان أبعد الناس منه
