The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray thirteen rakahs at night, and he would perform the witr with five prostrations, not sitting between them until he sat in the final one, then he would give the salam.
حدثنا حماد حدثنا هشام عن أبيه
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يصلي من الليل ثلاث عشرة ركعة وكان يوتر بخمس سجدات لا يجلس بينهن حتى يجلس في الآخرة ثم يسلم
