Abu Hafsa reported,

When the sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he performed ablution and ordered that the call be made, "The prayer is gathering." He stood and prolonged his standing in the prayer. The narrator said, "I think he recited Surah al-Baqarah." Then he bowed and prolonged the bowing. Then he said, "Allah hears the one who praises Him." Then he stood as long as he had stood before, without prostrating. Then he bowed and then prostrated. Then he stood and did as he had done before. Then he performed two bowings within one prostration unit. Then he sat, and the sun became clear.
