Ayesha reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was telling his wives a story one night when one of them said, "Messenger of Allah, this story is just a tale of Khurafah."He said, "Do you know who Khurafah was? Khurafah was a man from the tribe of Udhrah who was captured by the jinn during the time of ignorance. He stayed among them for a long while, then they returned him to humankind, and he used to tell people about the wonders he had witnessed among them. So people would say, 'A tale of Khurafah.'"Ubayy said, "This Abu Aqeel is trustworthy. His name is Abdullah bin Aqeel al-Thaqafi."

حدث رسول الله ﷺ نساءه ذات ليلة حديثا فقالت امرأة منهن يا رسول الله كان الحديث حديث خرافة فقال أتدرون ما خرافة إن خرافة كان رجلا من عذرة أسرته الجن في الجاهلية فمكث فيهن دهرا طويلا ثم ردوه إلى الإنس فكان يحدث الناس بما رأى فيهم من الأعاجيب فقال الناس حديث خرافة قال أبي أبو عقيل هذا ثقة اسمه عبد الله بن عقيل الثقفي
