Ayesha reported,

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the evening prayer, he would enter the house and then pray two units. After those, he prayed two more units that were longer than the first two. Then he prayed three units of witr without separating between them. Then he prayed two units while sitting, performing the bowing while seated and the prostration while seated.

أن رسول الله ﷺ كان إذا صلى العشاء دخل المنزل ثم صلى ركعتين ثم صلى بعدهما ركعتين أطول منهما ثم أوتر بثلاث لا يفصل فيهن ثم صلى ركعتين وهو جالس يركع وهو جالس ويسجد وهو قاعد جالس
