A man set out on a journey, and two men followed him, with another man walking behind those two saying, "Go back." So they turned back.The man behind them said to him, "Those two were devils, and I kept after them until I forced them to return. When you come to the Prophet ﷺ, convey my greetings of peace to him and inform him that we are gathering our charitable contributions, and had they been lawful for him to receive, we would have sent them to him."At that point, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade traveling alone.
حدثني عبد الجبار بن محمد يعني الخطابي حدثنا عبيد الله بن عمرو عن عبد الكريم عن عكرمة
أن رجلا خرج فتبعه رجلان ورجل يتلوهما يقول ارجعا قال فرجعا قال فقال له إن هذين شيطانان وإني لم أزل بهما حتى رددتهما فإذا أتيت النبي ﷺ فأقرئه السلام وأعلمه أنا في جمع صدقاتنا ولو كانت تصلح له لأرسلنا بها إليه قال فنهى رسول الله ﷺ عند ذلك عن الخلوة
