Umm Sunbulah brought a gift of milk to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ but did not find him. Ayesha said to her, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has forbidden eating the food of the bedouins."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered along with Abu Bakr and asked, "What do you have with you, Umm Sunbulah?"She replied, "Milk I have brought as a gift for you, Messenger of Allah."He said, "Pour it out, Umm Sunbulah."So she poured it.He said, "Hand it to Abu Bakr."She did so.Then he said, "Pour, Umm Sunbulah."She poured and handed it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he drank.Ayesha said, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was drinking from the milk, "How cooling it is to the liver, Messenger of Allah! I had been told that you forbade the food of the bedouins."He replied, "Ayesha, these are not the bedouins. They are the people of our countryside and we are the people of their town, and when they are called they respond. So they are not the bedouins."
حدثنا يحيى بن غيلان حدثنا المفضل قال حدثني يحيى بن أيوب عن عبد الرحمن بن حرملة الأسلمي عن عبد الله بن نيار الأسلمي عن عروة
أهدت أم سنبلة إلى رسول الله ﷺ لبنا فلم تجده فقالت لها إن رسول الله ﷺ قد نهى أن يؤكل طعام الأعراب فدخل رسول الله ﷺ وأبو بكر فقال ما هذا معك يا أم سنبلة قالت لبنا أهديت لك يا رسول الله قال اسكبي أم سنبلة فسكبت فقال ناولي أبا بكر ففعلت فقال اسكبي أم سنبلة فسكبت فناولت رسول الله ﷺ فشرب قالت عائشة ورسول الله ﷺ يشرب من لبن وأبردها على الكبد يا رسول الله كنت حدثت أنك قد نهيت عن طعام الأعراب فقال يا عائشة إنهم ليسوا بالأعراب هم أهل باديتنا ونحن أهل حاضرتهم وإذا دعوا أجابوا فليسوا الأعراب
