Zakwan Hajib Ayesha reported that Abdullah bin Abbas came seeking permission to enter upon Ayesha. He said, "I came in, and at her head was her nephew Abdullah bin Abdul-Rahman. I said, 'This is Ibn Abbas, asking permission to enter.'"Her nephew Abdullah leaned over her and said, "This is Abdullah bin Abbas asking permission to see you," while she was dying. She said, "Leave me alone about Ibn Abbas."He said, "Mother, Ibn Abbas is one of your righteous sons. He wants to greet you and bid you farewell."She said, "Let him in, if you wish."He said, "So I brought him in. When he sat down, he said, 'Receive good news.'"She said, "Good news as well?"He said, "There is nothing between you and meeting Muhammad ﷺ and the loved ones except for the soul leaving the body. You were the most beloved of the wives of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ loved only what was pure. Your necklace fell on the night of al-Abwa, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stayed there until morning came upon him at that camp, and the people awoke with no water. Then Allah revealed, 'So perform tayammum with clean earth' [Nisa 4:43]. That happened because of you, and through it Allah
sent down a concession for this community. And Allah
revealed your innocence from above the seven heavens, brought down by the Trustworthy Spirit. There is not a single mosque among the mosques of Allah where Allah is remembered but it is recited there throughout the hours of the night and the hours of the day."She said, "Leave me alone, Ibn Abbas. By the One in whose hand is my soul, I wish I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight."
Its isnad is sahih. It is a longer version of 1905. Bukhari also related it 8:371-372 in abridged form. In Dhakhair al-Mawarith 2909, this hadith is marked with the symbol for Muslim (م), which is a printing error, the correct symbol is خ for Bukhari, since none of the authors of the six books related it except him. The word [فيه] is an addition from K.
