Muslim bin Mikhraq reported,

I said to Ayesha, "Umm Muiminin, there are people who recite the entire Quran twice or three times in a single night."She replied, "Those people have recited and yet they have not truly recited. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would stand in prayer through an entire night, reciting Surah al-Baqarah, Surah Ali Imran, and Surah an-Nisa. He would not pass over a verse containing glad tidings without calling upon Allah and longing for what it promised, nor would he pass over a verse containing a warning without calling upon Allah and seeking refuge with Him."

حدثنا علي بن إسحاق قال أخبرنا عبد الله قال أخبرنا ابن لهيعة عن الحارث بن يزيد عن زياد بن نعيم الحضرمي

عن مسلم بن مخراق قال

قلت لعائشة يا أم المؤمنين إن ناسا يقرأ أحدهم القرآن في ليلة مرتين أو ثلاثا فقالت أولئك قرءوا ولم يقرءوا كان رسول الله ﷺ يقوم الليلة التمام فيقرأ سورة البقرة وسورة آل عمران وسورة النساء ثم لا يمر بآية فيها استبشار إلا دعا الله عز وجل ورغب ولا يمر بآية فيها تخويف إلا دعا الله عز وجل واستعاذ
