Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out on a journey, he would draw lots among his wives.

Bukhari reported it in 5/218, no. 2593, in Fath al-Bari, in the book of gifts, as did Muslim in 4/1894, no. 2445, in the book of the virtues of the companions, Ibn Majah in 1/634, no. 1970, in the book of marriage, and Darimi in 2/277, no. 2423, in the book of jihad.
