I asked Ayesha about the character of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.She replied, "Do you not read the Quran? 'Indeed, you are of a magnificent character' [Qalam 68:4]."I said, "Tell me about that."She said, "I had prepared food for him, and Hafsa had also prepared food for him. So I told my servant girl, 'Go, and if she comes with the food before mine is placed down, knock the food away.' The servant girl came with the food and threw it down, causing the bowl to fall and break, since it was on a leather mat. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gathered it up and said, 'Make recompense,' or 'You make recompense,' (Aswad was uncertain) 'a vessel for a vessel.' And he said nothing more."
