Shurayh bin Hani reported,

I asked Ayesha about wiping over leather socks, and she said, "Go to Ali and ask him."So I went to him, and he said, "The Prophet ﷺ used to instruct us, whenever we traveled, to wipe over our leather socks."Aswad said in his version, and sometimes Sharik would say, "Whenever we were with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey, we would wipe over our leather socks."

عن المقدام بن شريح عن أبيه قال

سألت عائشة عن المسح على الخفين فقالت ائت عليا فاسأله قال فأتيته فقال كان النبي ﷺ يأمرنا إذا سافرنا أن نمسح على خفافنا قال أسود في حديثه وربما قال شريك كنا إذا كنا مع النبي ﷺ في سفر مسحنا على خفافنا
