Ayesha reported,

During the illness in which the Prophet ﷺ passed away, he said, "Call Abu Bakr and his son to me so that something may be written down, lest anyone covet the position of Abu Bakr or anyone wish for it." Then he said, "Allah and the Muslims refuse this," saying it twice. Muammal once said, "and the believers."Ayesha said, "So Allah and the Muslims refused" — and Muammal once said, "and the believers" — "that it should be anyone but my father, and so it was my father."

حدثنا مؤمل قال حدثنا نافع يعني ابن عمر حدثنا ابن أبي مليكة

عن عائشة قالت

لما كان وجع النبي ﷺ الذي قبض فيه قال ادعوا لي أبا بكر وابنه فليكتب لكيلا يطمع في أمر أبي بكر طامع ولا يتمنى متمن ثم قال يأبى الله ذلك والمسلمون مرتين و قال مؤمل مرة والمؤمنون قالت عائشة فأبى الله والمسلمون و قال مؤمل مرة والمؤمنون إلا أن يكون أبي فكان أبي
