He came to Ayesha, Umm Muiminin, and greeted her.She asked, "Who is this man?"He replied, "I am Abdullah, the client of Ghutayf bin Azib."She said, "The son of Afif?"He answered, "Yes, Umm Muiminin."Then he asked her about the two units of prayer after the Asr prayer, whether the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform them. She told him, "Yes."He also asked her about the young children of the unbelievers. She said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'They are with their fathers.' So I said, 'Messenger of Allah, without having done any deeds?' He said, 'Allah knows best what they would have done.'"
Its isnad is sahih. Utba bin Damra bin Habib Himsi is deemed trustworthy, and Abu Dawud narrated from him. Abdullah bin Abu Qays, the freedman of Atiya bin Azib or Ghutayf bin Azib, is reliable, and his hadith appears in Sahih Muslim and elsewhere. The hadith has appeared previously at 24117.
