Ayesha reported,

A Jewish woman used to serve Ayesha, and whenever Ayesha did her any kindness, the Jewish woman would say to her, "May Allah protect you from the punishment of the grave."Ayesha said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in to see me, and I asked, 'Messenger of Allah, is there punishment in the grave before the Day of Resurrection?'He replied, 'No. What makes you ask that?'I said, 'This Jewish woman, whenever we do her any kindness, says, May Allah protect you from the punishment of the grave.'He said, 'The Jews have lied. They tell lies against Allah . There is no punishment until the Day of Resurrection.'"Ayesha continued, "He remained as such for as long as Allah willed him to remain. Then one day at midday he came out wrapped in his garment, with his eyes red, calling out at the top of his voice, 'People, trials have overshadowed you like patches of the dark night. People, if you knew what I know, you would weep much and laugh little. People, seek refuge with Allah from the punishment of the grave, for the punishment of the grave is real.'"

عن عائشة

أن يهودية كانت تخدمها فلا تصنع عائشة إليها شيئا من المعروف إلا قالت لها اليهودية وقاك الله عذاب القبر قالت فدخل رسول الله ﷺ علي فقلت يا رسول الله هل للقبر عذاب قبل يوم القيامة قال لا وعم ذاك قالت هذه اليهودية لا نصنع إليها من المعروف شيئا إلا قالت وقاك الله عذاب القبر قال كذبت يهود وهم على الله عز وجل كذب لا عذاب دون يوم القيامة قالت ثم مكث بعد ذاك ما شاء الله أن يمكث فخرج ذات يوم نصف النهار مشتملا بثوبه محمرة عيناه وهو ينادي بأعلى صوته أيها الناس أظلتكم الفتن كقطع الليل المظلم أيها الناس لو تعلمون ما أعلم لبكيتم كثيرا وضحكتم قليلا أيها الناس استعيذوا بالله من عذاب القبر فإن عذاب القبر حق
