They used to set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wearing a fragrant paste that they had applied before entering the state of ihram. Then they would bathe while the paste was still on them, and they would sweat and bathe again, yet he did not forbid them from doing so.
حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن الزبير قال حدثنا عمر بن سويد قال سمعت عائشة ابنة طلحة تذكر وذكر عندها المحرم يتطيب فذكرت
أنهن كن يخرجن مع رسول الله ﷺ عليهن الضماد قد أضمدن قبل أن يحرمن ثم يغتسلن وهو عليهن يعرقن ويغتسلن لا ينهاهن عنه

Its isnad is sahih. Umar bin Suwayd Ajli or Thaqafi is trustworthy, and Abu Dawud narrated from him. The hadith appears in his collection at 1/66, number 254, in the chapter on Purification, and in Bayhaqi at 5/48, in the chapter on Hajj.
