The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would stand in the prayer of return to Allah and bow three times, then prostrate, then bow three times, then prostrate.
حدثنا عبد الصمد حدثنا حماد قال حدثنا قتادة عن عطاء عن عبيد بن عمير
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يقوم في صلاة الإنابة فيركع ثلاث ركعات ثم يسجد ثم يركع ثلاث ركعات ثم يسجد
Its isnad is sahih, Ibn Majah reported it, 1/595, no. 1852, in the book of marriage, chapter on the husband's right over the wife.
