The Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke about the hems of women's garments, saying, "A handspan."She said, "I said, 'Then their shins would be exposed.'"He said, "Then a forearm's length."
حدثنا عبد الصمد قال حدثني أبي حدثنا حبيب المعلم عن يزيد أبي المهزم عن أبي هريرة
عن رسول الله ﷺ في ذيول النساء قال شبر قالت قلت إذن تخرج سوقهن قال فذراع
Its chain of transmission is daif because of Yazid Abu Muhazzim, whom a group of scholars declared daif and some imams abandoned. The hadith is sahih according to Tirmidhi 3/223, no. 1731, in the Book of Clothing, where he said, hasan sahih. Abu Dawud also related it, 4/65, no. 4117, likewise in the Book of Clothing. Nasai related it, 8/209, no. 5338, in the Book of Adornment, and Ibn Majah, 2/1185, no. 3580, in the Book of Clothing.
