She informed him that she had asked the Prophet of Allah ﷺ about the plague, and the Prophet of Allah ﷺ told her that it had been a punishment which Allah would send upon whomever He willed, but Allah
made it a mercy for the believers. There is no servant who, when the plague strikes, remains in his town patiently and seeking reward, knowing that nothing will befall him except what Allah
has decreed for him, except that he will receive a reward like that of a martyr.
حدثنا يونس بن محمد قال حدثنا داود يعني ابن أبي الفرات عن عبد الله بن بريدة عن يحيى بن يعمر
أنها أخبرته أنها سألت نبي الله ﷺ عن الطاعون فأخبرها نبي الله ﷺ أنه كان عذابا يبعثه الله عز وجل على من يشاء فجعله الله عز وجل رحمة للمؤمنين فليس من عبد يقع الطاعون فيه فيمكث في بلده صابرا محتسبا يعلم أنه لم يصبه إلا ما كتب الله عز وجل له إلا كان له مثل أجر الشهيد
Its isnad is sahih. Its narrators are trustworthy and well known. Dawud bin Abu Furat Kindi Marwazi is trustworthy, and his hadith is found in Bukhari. The hadith was narrated by Bukhari 6/513, no. 3474, in the Hadiths of the Prophets, and by Muslim 4/1737, no. 2218, in the Chapter on Greetings.
