I said to him, "We go on military expeditions and are brought hides and waterskins."He replied, "I do not know what to tell you, except that I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Any hide that has been tanned is purified.'"
حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا سفيان عن زيد بن أسلم قال حدثني عبد الرحمن بن وعلة
قلت له إنا نغزو فنؤتى بالإهاب والأسقية قال ما أدري ما أقول لك إلا أني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول أيما إهاب دبغ فقد طهر
Its isnad is sahih, and it is a longer version of 1895. Sufyan here is Thawri, while there he is Ibn Uyayna. The hadith is found in Nasb Raya 1:115-116, and it is also attributed to Nasai, Malik in Muwatta, Ibn Hibban in his Sahih, Shafii, Ishaq bin Rahawayh, and Bazzar. See also 2003, 2117, 2369.
