Ayesha reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to command them with what they could bear, and they would say, "We are not like you. Allah has forgiven you your past and future sins."He would become angry until it could be seen on his face. Then he would say, "By Allah, I am the most knowledgeable of you concerning Allah and the most God-fearing of you in heart."

حدثنا أبو أسامة قال أخبرنا هشام عن أبيه

عن عائشة قالت

كان رسول الله ﷺ يأمرهم بما يطيقون فيقولون إنا لسنا كهيئتك قد غفر الله عز وجل لك ما تقدم من ذنبك وما تأخر فيغضب حتى يرى ذلك في وجهه قال ثم يقول والله إني لأعلمكم بالله عز وجل وأتقاكم له قلبا
