A Jewish woman came to visit her and asked her for some perfume as a gift, so Ayesha gave her some. The woman said to her, "May Allah protect you from the punishment of the grave."Ayesha said, "This troubled me until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came."She continued, "I mentioned it to him and said, 'Messenger of Allah, is there punishment in the grave?'"He replied, "Yes, they are indeed punished in their graves with a punishment that the animals can hear."
حدثنا أبو معاوية قال حدثنا الأعمش عن شقيق عن مسروق
دخلت عليها يهودية استوهبتها طيبا فوهبت لها عائشة فقالت أجارك الله من عذاب القبر قالت فوقع في نفسي من ذلك حتى جاء رسول الله ﷺ قالت فذكرت ذلك له قلت يا رسول الله إن للقبر عذابا قال نعم إنهم ليعذبون في قبورهم عذابا تسمعه البهائم
